KustonX wakes up in the morning without an alarm clock, capitalism does not exist in this world, and no heating bills either because the body temperature is 100°C degrees that warms up the apartment – a truly autonomic heating system.
In these uncertain times, when the future is shrouded in fog and sometimes even the past begins to lose its credibility, even more abstract forms are entering art, submitting to more open interpretations by both the viewer and the artist. However, the only constant, it seems, is movement, namely, nothing remains motionless. And so we, authors of this exhibitions, too, are trying to capture the motion of characters, events, sceneries, or even something more broad outside of that which we cannot yet define, but can feel and project in a medium that is dear to us.
The exhibition features creations by the members of Brīvās Mākslas kustība (Free Art movement) and depictions of characters or beings that could potentially exist in a distant future, another galaxy, or even in higher dimensions. Works were created in various mediums – painting, graphic art, digital art, sculpture – and they reflect our attempt to capture the physical appearance, inner essence, and feelings of these characters.
